Suede & Nubuck Leather Care Guide

Suede & Nubuck Leather Care Guide

Attention! Before using any product or method on your footwear, test it lightly on a hidden area to ensure that it provides the desired result and does not cause any problems or damage.

Step 1

Preparation

Remove the laces from the footwear.

Step 2

Brushing and cleaning solid residues

First, remove surface dust and dirt using a stiff suede and nubuck brush (Saphir Brass or Spatula Brush). Gently brush the suede, paying special attention to stubborn residues that have adhered to the surface. Do not rub excessively on the same spot to avoid damaging the sensitive surface of the suede, especially when handling nubuck leather.

Step 3

Use of liquid cleaner for leather Suede & Nubuck (not needed for regular cleaning)

Attention! This step is performed when the footwear is heavily soiled and when you want to give the leather a thorough renewal. The use of the liquid cleaner is particularly beneficial when applied in moderation, but frequent use is not recommended.

The application is straightforward: Pour the Saphir Omnidaim cleaner for suede & nubuck into a small container (e.g., a glass or cup).

Take a small amount of cleaner with the brush (made from natural pig bristles to avoid damaging the leather) and begin to scrub. It is best to apply this over a sink or basin, or on a surface you do not mind getting affected by the cleaner.

Rinse the brush and remove the dirt with strokes following the direction of the nap. Repeat this process as needed.

Allow the footwear to dry away from direct sunlight and in a cool place.

Note

Due to the effectiveness of the cleaner and its ability to revitalize the leather's color, you should thoroughly clean the surface of both shoes in the pair to avoid any potential variation in shades.

Step 4

Gommadin Eraser (not always necessary)

We recommend performing this step only if deemed necessary, after using the liquid cleaner from the previous step, as the Omnidaim is sufficient for most stain removal cases. However, the Gommadin eraser can be used without prior liquid cleaning in cases of persistent stains that do not require deep cleaning.

The eraser is used in cases where you need to tackle stubborn and persistent stains that the brush cannot remove.

The abrasion provided by the Gommadin eraser is strong. For this reason, you should use the eraser gently and only on the stained areas.

Step 5

Brushing with Crepe

Gently brush with the crepe brush to help restore the natural feel of the leather. With successive back-and-forth motions, your suede leathers will look like new. The adhesive nature of the crepe brush helps remove small particles from the suede while restoring its nap.

Βήμα 6

Recoloring and Conditioning

Spray the Saphir Renovateur for suede on your footwear.

How should Renovateur be applied?

Cover an external surface with newspapers and also stuff your shoes with newspapers to protect the lining from unwanted discoloration.

Hold the Saphir Renovateur about 25 cm away from the footwear and spray the surface evenly. Allow the leather to dry for 10 minutes.

Why should Saphir Renovateur be used on suede and nubuck leathers?

Renovateur cleans and revitalizes the color, nourishes with natural almond oil, and provides waterproofing. Additionally, its exclusive formula of natural plant oils helps restore the original softness of hairy leathers.

Βήμα 7

Waterproofing

To protect suede and nubuck leathers not only from water and snow but also from oils and stains, the application of Invulner spray is particularly useful.

Apply the waterproofing spray to the footwear and let it dry before exposing it to harsh conditions. Waterproofing products should be applied with a frequency depending on the product you choose and the weather conditions. Consult the instructions on the packaging.
