Saphir Medaille d’Or, Pâte de Luxe, 50ml (dark green 20) – shoe polish wax
Pâte De Luxe Medaille d’Or – High-Quality Wax Polish
The famous Pâte De Luxe polish combines a refined selection of high-quality oils and natural waxes, including distilled pine resin oil (turpentine spirit), beeswax, carnauba wax, and six other waxes known for their nourishing, protective, softening, and high-gloss properties.
It is one of the most iconic products in the Saphir Médaille d’Or range, specially formulated to achieve the renowned glaçage or mirror shine finish.
The selected pigments offer excellent colouring and penetration properties, while their transparency allows for the creation of a unique patina by applying graduated shades of colour to the leather.
Pâte De Luxe is used by top shoemakers during the final finishing of shoes, and by incorporating it into your own care routine, you significantly contribute to maintaining the excellent appearance and long-lasting protection of your leather footwear.
Suitable Uses:
Pâte De Luxe by Saphir Medaille d’Or is ideal for smooth leather shoes and boots, providing a top-quality, professional-level finish.
Main ingrediens
The formula of the Pâte De Luxe wax polish is based on three main types of natural waxes:
– Animal origin: beeswax, with softening and protective properties
– Vegetable origin: carnauba wax, derived from the leaves of a Brazilian palm tree, providing high hardness and natural shine
– Mineral origin: montan wax, known for its durability and depth of finish
Another key ingredient in this exceptional formula is distilled pine resin oil (turpentine spirit), extracted from pine trees in Southern Europe. It thoroughly degreases the leather and enhances the absorption of the waxes. As it evaporates, it leaves behind the rich natural components that protect and impart a unique shine.
Care instructions:
– Brush the item to remove any dust or dirt.
– Apply a small amount of Pâte De Luxe with a cotton cloth or the special application brush to reach the welts and seams, nourishing this delicate area.
– Massage gently to allow the polish to be absorbed and provide maximum protection to the leather.
– Apply one or two coats of Pâte De Luxe to the entire shoe.
– Let each coat dry for about five minutes before proceeding.
– Gently polish the surface with a natural bristle brush or a wool glove.
– For a high-gloss shine, apply additional coats on the toe cap and heel. Avoid excessive application on the vamp, as frequent bending in this area can cause cracks in the wax layer.
Tips:
1. Prepare the leather
If your shoes are dirty or have accumulated wax, silicone, or resin residues, clean the leather with Reno’Mat Leather Cleaner from the Saphir Beauté du Cuir range.
If you regularly care for your shoes and they are in good condition, we recommend using Renovateur Cream, which moisturizes and gently cleans the leather pores without damaging the patina.
2. Nourishment with Crème 1925
We recommend applying Crème 1925 after using Pâte De Luxe. Crème 1925 contains softer waxes and nourishing shea butter, providing deep hydration and protection.
3. Polishing with Mirror Gloss
To quickly achieve the renowned glaçage or mirror shine, use Mirror Gloss. This product contains naturally harder waxes essential for obtaining a strong, mirror-like shine on leather shoes.

Instructions for use
Care of Smooth Leather
Step 1
Remove the laces.
Remove the laces and properly insert wooden shoe trees into your footwear.
Step 2
Brush the leather.
First, remove any surface dust using a sheepskin brush, or more stubborn dirt with a horsehair brush. Gently rub the leather, paying special attention to the creases and the areas where the sole is bonded.
Step 3
Deep cleaning (optional)
This step is performed periodically on heavily worn shoes. Skip it if your shoes are in good condition.
Apply RÉNO’MAT to the shoe using a cotton cloth. Remember to change the area of the cloth when it becomes dirty.
RÉNO’MAT is used to remove dirt, stains, and wax buildup. It deeply cleanses the pores of the leather, eliminating all silicones and resins often found in inferior shoe care products. RÉNO’MAT allows Saphir pastes and creams to penetrate deeply, nourishing and treating the leather.
Step 4
Prepare the leather.
Apply RENOVATEUR cream to the shoe using a cotton cloth.
The RENOVATEUR cream cleans, moisturizes, and nourishes the leather while simultaneously contracting the leather pores, allowing for easy absorption of the CRÈME SURFINE.
Step 5
Shoe care (the most important part)
Apply the appropriate color of CRÈME SURFINE to the shoe using an application brush.
CRÈME SURFINE is specially designed to enhance and prolong the lifespan of your shoes. Its exclusive formulation cleanses, nourishes, recolors, shines, and protects the leather.
Dip the edge of the application brush lightly into the jar of CRÈME SURFINE. Apply the product with gentle back-and-forth motions, lightly pressing and paying special attention to the creases. After application, allow the shoe to dry for a few minutes.
Step 6
Polishing
Brush the shoe with a horsehair brush to enhance the natural wax shine of CRÈME SURFINE. It is recommended to use a black bristle brush for black and dark-colored shoes, or a blonde bristle brush for lighter colors, to avoid unwanted color staining from residual polish.
Step 7
The finishing touch
Gently rub the leather with a cotton cloth to enhance the shine and remove any excess cream.
Do you need to use waterproofing spray?
Once the aforementioned procedures have been completed and barring exposure to severe weather conditions, further waterproofing on smooth leathers is not necessary as the high concentration of natural waxes in Saphir products provides ample protection. However, if the shoes will be exposed to more demanding conditions, waterproofing is recommended.
