Saphir Médaille d’Or, Oiled Leather Cream, 75ml (dark brown 05) – oiled leather shoe polish

Saphir Médaille d’Or Oiled Leather Cream is specially formulated for oiled and greased leathers. Its high oil content helps maintain the leather’s water-repellent properties while keeping it soft and supple.

Suitable Uses:

Smooth leathers, oiled leathers, as well as oiled or waxed suede.

Main ingredient:

Neatsfoot Oil

Neatsfoot Oil is oil extracted from the bones and feet of cattle, primarily used for leather care.

Features and Use:

    • Softens leather and keeps it supple.

    • Enhances their resistance to water and dryness.

    • It is often used on oiled leathers, bags, boots, and equestrian equipment.

Care Instructions:

  • Thoroughly remove all dirt and dust from the shoes and brush them. For a deeper clean, you can use Saphir Beauté du Cuir Cleaning Lotion (ref. 0544).

  • Apply the oiled leather cream sparingly using a cotton cloth or the Saphir Médaille d’Or Spreading Brush (ref. 2601).

  • Massage the cream into the leather in circular motions, allowing it to be absorbed and nourish the leather, creating a protective layer.

  • Leave the shoes to dry for approximately one hour.

  • Next, polish the shoes with a bristle brush and finish by buffing them with a wool cloth or glove for a shine.

Tip:

It is recommended to test the cream first on a hidden area of the leather.

Care of Smooth Leather

Step 1

Remove the laces.

Remove the laces and properly insert wooden shoe trees into your footwear.

Step 2

Brush the leather.

First, remove any surface dust using a sheepskin brush, or more stubborn dirt with a horsehair brush. Gently rub the leather, paying special attention to the creases and the areas where the sole is bonded.

Step 3

Deep cleaning (optional)

This step is performed periodically on heavily worn shoes. Skip it if your shoes are in good condition.

Apply RÉNO’MAT to the shoe using a cotton cloth. Remember to change the area of the cloth when it becomes dirty.

RÉNO’MAT is used to remove dirt, stains, and wax buildup. It deeply cleanses the pores of the leather, eliminating all silicones and resins often found in inferior shoe care products. RÉNO’MAT allows Saphir pastes and creams to penetrate deeply, nourishing and treating the leather.

Step 4

Prepare the leather.

Apply RENOVATEUR cream to the shoe using a cotton cloth.

The RENOVATEUR cream cleans, moisturizes, and nourishes the leather while simultaneously contracting the leather pores, allowing for easy absorption of the CRÈME SURFINE.

Step 5

Shoe care (the most important part)

Apply the appropriate color of CRÈME SURFINE to the shoe using an application brush.

CRÈME SURFINE is specially designed to enhance and prolong the lifespan of your shoes. Its exclusive formulation cleanses, nourishes, recolors, shines, and protects the leather.

Dip the edge of the application brush lightly into the jar of CRÈME SURFINE. Apply the product with gentle back-and-forth motions, lightly pressing and paying special attention to the creases. After application, allow the shoe to dry for a few minutes.

Step 6

Polishing

Brush the shoe with a horsehair brush to enhance the natural wax shine of CRÈME SURFINE. It is recommended to use a black bristle brush for black and dark-colored shoes, or a blonde bristle brush for lighter colors, to avoid unwanted color staining from residual polish.

Step 7

The finishing touch

Gently rub the leather with a cotton cloth to enhance the shine and remove any excess cream.

Do you need to use waterproofing spray?

Once the aforementioned procedures have been completed and barring exposure to severe weather conditions, further waterproofing on smooth leathers is not necessary as the high concentration of natural waxes in Saphir products provides ample protection. However, if the shoes will be exposed to more demanding conditions, waterproofing is recommended.
