Saphir Médaille d’Or Mirror Gloss 75 ml (Black 01) – shoe polishing paste

The Amiral Gloss has been crafted with absolute attention to detail, allowing both professionals and shoe care enthusiasts to effortlessly achieve a high-gloss, mirror-like shine. It offers a more effective and user-friendly polishing experience compared to the traditional application of Pâte de Luxe.

The carefully selected blend of hard and glossy natural waxes, combined in the perfect ratio with turpentine – a natural solvent – impresses with its speed in achieving a dazzling, mirror-like shine.

While Pâte de Luxe offers excellent cleaning and nourishing properties, it contains a lower concentration of hard and glossy waxes, requiring a more refined polishing technique—precisely where Amiral Gloss is designed to excel.

This product is specifically designed to deliver a high-gloss, mirror-like finish exclusively on the toe caps and heel areas of shoes—the ideal zones for achieving this effect.

Main ingrediens

  • Beeswax

  • Carnauba wax

  • Montan wax

Suitable Uses:

This product is exclusively designed to provide a high-gloss shine and flawless finish on the toe caps and heels of shoes. These are the only areas where polishing delivers the maximum effect.

Applying it to other areas, such as the creases formed during walking, is not recommended, as the wax cannot remain intact. Continuous movement causes cracks on its surface, resulting in an uneven and undesirable finish.

Care instructions:

Saphir Médaille d’Or Mirror Gloss should be applied to clean, well-conditioned shoes. Make sure you have completed the basic care routine beforehand — for more details, please see the “Leather Care” section.

Wrap a soft cotton cloth around your middle finger and index finger, and take a small amount of the product. Using gentle, circular motions, begin applying the Mirror Gloss to targeted areas—typically the toe and heel—where a high shine is desired. Apply light pressure on the leather to gradually build up layers of wax without affecting the texture.

As you work, you will notice a slight resistance on the surface—this is the signal to add a drop of water, either with your finger or a dropper. Continue with the same circular motions to blend the layer and enhance the shine.

The goal is to achieve the glaçage effect—the distinctive mirror-like finish that highlights the shoe’s elegance. For best results, alternate the application between both shoes, allowing each layer to dry naturally.

Allow the final layer to dry for about 30 minutes without touching or brushing the surface. For the finishing touch, gently use the Saphir Médaille d’Or Lustreur Glove (code 2520002) to enhance the shine and complete the look with a velvety texture.

Tips:

Mirror Gloss is a finishing product used at the final stage of shoe care to provide an intense, clean shine. It is not a cleaning product and does not remove dirt or residues.

If your shoes are dirty or have residues of wax, silicone, or resins, it’s best to clean them thoroughly first using Saphir Réno Cleaner. Before applying it to the entire shoe, test it on an inconspicuous area.

If you regularly care for your shoes, it’s best to use the Lotion or Cleanser, which gently clean the leather while preserving its beautiful patina and providing hydration.

Before applying Mirror Gloss, we recommend caring for the leather by alternating between Crème 1925, to nourish and moisturize, and Pâte de Luxe, for a deeper, richer shine.

For better application, use the Pommadier brush, specially designed to spread wax easily and evenly across all surfaces and details of your shoes.

Care of Smooth Leather

Step 1

Remove the laces.

Remove the laces and properly insert wooden shoe trees into your footwear.

Step 2

Brush the leather.

First, remove any surface dust using a sheepskin brush, or more stubborn dirt with a horsehair brush. Gently rub the leather, paying special attention to the creases and the areas where the sole is bonded.

Step 3

Deep cleaning (optional)

This step is performed periodically on heavily worn shoes. Skip it if your shoes are in good condition.

Apply RÉNO’MAT to the shoe using a cotton cloth. Remember to change the area of the cloth when it becomes dirty.

RÉNO’MAT is used to remove dirt, stains, and wax buildup. It deeply cleanses the pores of the leather, eliminating all silicones and resins often found in inferior shoe care products. RÉNO’MAT allows Saphir pastes and creams to penetrate deeply, nourishing and treating the leather.

Step 4

Prepare the leather.

Apply RENOVATEUR cream to the shoe using a cotton cloth.

The RENOVATEUR cream cleans, moisturizes, and nourishes the leather while simultaneously contracting the leather pores, allowing for easy absorption of the CRÈME SURFINE.

Step 5

Shoe care (the most important part)

Apply the appropriate color of CRÈME SURFINE to the shoe using an application brush.

CRÈME SURFINE is specially designed to enhance and prolong the lifespan of your shoes. Its exclusive formulation cleanses, nourishes, recolors, shines, and protects the leather.

Dip the edge of the application brush lightly into the jar of CRÈME SURFINE. Apply the product with gentle back-and-forth motions, lightly pressing and paying special attention to the creases. After application, allow the shoe to dry for a few minutes.

Step 6

Polishing

Brush the shoe with a horsehair brush to enhance the natural wax shine of CRÈME SURFINE. It is recommended to use a black bristle brush for black and dark-colored shoes, or a blonde bristle brush for lighter colors, to avoid unwanted color staining from residual polish.

Step 7

The finishing touch

Gently rub the leather with a cotton cloth to enhance the shine and remove any excess cream.

Do you need to use waterproofing spray?

Once the aforementioned procedures have been completed and barring exposure to severe weather conditions, further waterproofing on smooth leathers is not necessary as the high concentration of natural waxes in Saphir products provides ample protection. However, if the shoes will be exposed to more demanding conditions, waterproofing is recommended.
